New Release: Coheed and Cambria- Comatose

Over the last couple of years one band that I’ve really gotten into is Coheed and Cambria. When they first arrived on the scene I kinda wrote them off for whatever dumb reason I had at the time. But, like anything worth a damn, sometimes it takes time to really find the beauty in something, just like Coheed and Cambria. Since then, I’ve been enthralled by their albums, songs, concepts and live shows. And now we are starting to get closer to a new Coheed album and that’s quite exciting. Their new album Vaxis II: A Window of the Waking Mind will be available June 24th. So far we’ve gotten a couple singles “Shoulders” and “The Liars Club,” and now here comes “Comatose.” This one is a catchy fun one that I’m sure when played live will be huge with that chorus!

Coheed and Cambria unveil new song "Shoulders": Stream

A brand new Coheed And Cambria single titled “Shoulders” has made its way online. A lyric video for the track is available below, while further details on the band’s release plans for their upcoming tenth studio album have yet to be revealed. This song definitely has some No World For Tomorrow vibes throughout as well as a tinge of Year Of The Black Rainbow. It’s also a nice little change of pace too.

The more and more I listen to Coheed and Cambria, I keep finding endless things to love about this band. The musicianship, the concept, the lyrics, etc, it all shows how damn talented this band is. One of the songs that I’ve been stuck on of theirs is, “In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3.” This song is epically huge, a bit proggy but, full of rock. As a title track, it’s pretty spectacular. Live this song is even more powerful. Over the years too, it’s become a live staple. Interestingly too, this was the third single from the album of same name.

Best Guitar Solos: Coheed and Cambria- Welcome Home

Coheed And Cambria - Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV Volume One: From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness (Vinyl) : Target

Coheed and Cambria is one of those bands that takes a bit of time to get into. There’s so much under the surface to the band, music, and lyrics. One thing though is the musicianship and songwriting in the group is stellar. On the band’s third album, Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness, there is a song called “Welcome Home.” This track is epic and fantastic. The band fought hard to make this the first single from the record and it was well worth it. The guitar solo alone in this song is something awesome and live it’s even better. I really have to acknowledge how talented Claudio Sanchez and Travis Stever compliment each other with their playing and as a guitar duo. “Welcome Home” is a perfect example of why Coheed is a very underrated band.
