The other day Ozzy celebrated his 70th birthday. Funny enough, while I was on my way home that day, I had my iPod on random and the Rob Zombie song “Iron Head” came on and there was Ozzy singing on it. I had totally forgotten about Ozzy guesting on that song, so of course when I got home I looked up all the songs he’s guested on over the years. So, here’s a bunch of those songs.

Jamey Jasta is one of the hardest working guys in all of music. From his bands, Hatebreed, Kingdom of Sorrow and his own solo project Jasta, to his running of Stillborn Records, and his well known podcast The Jasta Show, there is no shortage of all things Jasta related out there. In between all the above, Jamey has lent his vocals to quite a few band’s songs over the years. Here are a few of my favorites he has guested on.

Guest Vocalist: Howard Jones- Light The Torch Ex Killswitch Engage

Howard-Jones.jpg

For many years now, Howard Jones has been a well respected vocalist in the heavy music world. From his time in Blood Has Been Shed to Killswitch Engage and now with Light The Torch (formerly known as Devil You Know), Howard’s voice and lyrics have resonated with countless amounts of people. Since Light The Torch is getting set to release their new album, Revival (out March 30), I thought it would be fun to put together a bunch of songs Howard has guested on over the years.

Guest Vocalist: Scooter Ward of Cold

10551099_10153002846379466_2566822027155703081_n.jpg There are certain singers that I truly feel captivated by. The way they deliver their lyrics, write songs, work out melodies, and even their stage presence, all this really grabs me and makes me feel like I’m a part of the song. One singer in particular that I’ve really loved for over 20 years now is, Scooter Ward of Cold. His ability to do all the above and be as open and vulnerable as he is, is a statement to the honest approach he takes to music. Cold is currently working on a new album, which is pretty exciting. Though in the mean time, until it’s released, check out a few songs that Scooter has guested on over the years.

Scooter Ward & Tony Iommi- Something Wicked This Way Comes:

Reveille- Inside Out:

Superfly Rodeo- Reach:

Sierra Swan- You Got Away:

Sierra Swan- Take Me Down:

Guest Vocalist: Randy Blythe

Over the last decade or so, screaming vocals have really become a staple in heavy music. There are so many different types of “screaming.” Some of the frontmen and frontwomen, really have a unique presence and sound to their scream. One person in particular, Randy Blythe of Lamb Of God, is a perfect example of this. The following songs are ones Randy has lent his unique voice to over the years.

Enjoy!

A Life Once Lost- Vulture (from HUNTER):

A Life Once Lost- Pigeonholed (from IRON GAG):

Overkill- Skulls and Bones (from IMMORTALIS):

Gojira- Adoration For None (from THE WAY OF ALL FLESH):

Guest Vocalist: Axl Rose

I have long been a fan of Axl Rose. I was even him for Halloween once when I was 4 or 5. Not only does Axl have one the best and most recognizable voices in music but, he has lent his talents to some other bands over the years. Take a listen to Axl guesting on these songs.

Steve Jones of Sex Pistols- I Did You No Wrong (from Fire & Gasoline):

Gilby Clarke- Dead Flowers (from Pawnshop Guitars):

The Outpatience- Anxious Disease:

Sebastian Bach- Back In The Saddle (Aerosmith Cover), Stuck Inside, Love Is A Bitchslap (from Angel Down):

Axl also sang on Don Henley’s “I Will Not Go Quietly” from the album The End Of Innocence.

This past year Saosin returned with a great new album, and their first since 2003 to feature original singer Anthony Green. You might know Anthony from the band Circa Survive, which he started after leaving Saosin. His voice is very unique and interesting. He’s got a very high pitched singing voice and one of the best higher screams I’ve heard. Since the new Saosin album Along The Shadows came out, I’ve been listening to it a lot and it’s quite good. It also got me wondering what other songs Anthony has guested on over the years. So here you go!

A Life Once Lost- All Teeth:

Envy On The Coast- The Gift of Paralysis:

Fear Before the March of the Flames- My Deer Hunter:

Balance and Composure- Keepsake:

The Receiving End of Sirens- Flee The Factory:

Guest Vocalist: Greg Puciato

Greg_1.jpg

I’ve been in the mood lately to go back and listen to The Dillinger Escape Plan. Their singer Greg Puciato has really grown on me over the years. He’s really found his own path amongst the bands catalog, side projects like Killer Be Killed and The Black Queen and by the songs he has guested on over the years. Dillinger are going to be releasing new music very soon, so I thought why not share some of the songs Greg has guested on over the years.

Lamb Of God- Torches:

Soulfly- Rise Of The Fallen:

Every Time I Die- The Marvelous Slut:

Suicide Silence- Monster Within:

Devin Townsend Project- The Mighty Masterbator:

Killer Be Killed:

Guest Vocalist: Jesse Leach

The new Killswitch Engage album is so damn good. Jesse Leach’s vocals, lyrics and melodies are exceptional throughout all the albums he’s put out. He’s one of the most underrated singers in the last 15 years. As one of my all time favorite vocalists, my curiosity was raised to find out what other songs Jesse has made a guest appearance on. So here you go!

Killswitch Engage- Take This Oath (From The End Of Heartache):

Roadrunner United- Blood and Flames:

Thy Will Be Done- Preserving The Sacred:

Guest Vocalist: Ian Astbury of The Cult

Coachella+Valley+Music+Arts+Festival+Day+1+Kj7RbIRtFi2l.jpg

Way back when I was a little lad I remember seeing the video for The Cult’s “Fire Woman” and thinking that the guy singing was outstanding. So naturally I had my parents take me to go buy their album Sonic Temple. Over the years I’ve really noticed I love Ian Astbury’s voice. In the past few years The Cult has come back and are delivering the goods. Their last two albums, Choice Of Weapon and Hidden City are fantastic, and have that classic edge the band has always had. Ian’s voice has always been distinct and when you hear it on other band’s songs, it brings something special out of those songs. Here are a few songs that Ian has guested on over the years.

Tony Iommi w/ Ian Astbury- Flame On:

Slash w/ Ian Astbury- Ghost:

Circus Of Power- Shine:

Boris-Teeth and Claws:
