Song Battle

Same Name Song Battle: Depeche Mode VS Massive Attack- Angel

I was having some fun over the past week and decided to start listening to the music in my car by song order starting with A. While going through this long and arduous process I started to take notes about how many same name songs I have on my iPod. One of the most fun ones that I found was when I got to these two songs, and I had a feeling this would make for an interesting topic of conversation. Today I’m putting up Depeche Mode and Massive Attack in a battle to see what song you like best. “Angel” by Depeche Mode from their album, Delta Machine or Massive Attack’s from their album, Mezzanine. Both of these are totally different from one another but, could live in the same genre if need be. Which of these do you pick?

Same Name Songs: Jawbreaker VS Tool- Parabola

For a multitude of reasons, same name songs always have a way of intriguing me. Ever since I started this topic, I try to find same name songs that are on opposite sides of the spectrum to compare. There is never truly a right answer which makes it all the more fun. The preference part is what I’m most interested in. With that in mind, I present to you the song name “Parabola” by Jawbreaker and by Tool. Which one do you prefer?

Same Name Songs: Nine Inch Nails & Stone Temple Pilots- Sin

It’s always fun to take songs of the same name and put them on back to back and contemplate about which one is better. There are so many of them out there and some are definitely better than some. One that I did recently were the songs “Sin” by Nine Inch Nails from Pretty Hate Machine and by Stone Temple Pilots on their album Core. Now these are both totally different but are quite good songs. The NIN one will always take the top prize for me. “Sin” the NIN version is in my top 10 all time favorite NIN songs.

Same Name Songs: The Smashing Pumpkins vs The Sex Pistols- Bodies

I really dig on these little comparison topics. The same name song one is always fun. Here we have two bands from entirely different genres with equally great songs. Which one do you enjoy more? Personally, I have to go with The Smashing Pumpkins on this one. As much as I dig on The Sex Pistols, the Pumpkins one just has a bit more substance to me. Granted that’s just my opinion though.

Same Name Songs: The Cure VS U2- Drowning Man

I love finding songs that have the same title as another band. It makes for a very interesting listening experience as well as makes you wonder which song is better. Over the years, there have been many many same name songs that have led to great conversations and this one I believe will do just that. Two very prolific bands, with two very well revered albums that both happen to have come out around the same time (at least a couple years close). The song in question today is “Drowning Man” and both The Cure and U2 have songs by that name. I’m curious to know what one you think is the “better” one. Personally I enjoy both tremendously but, if I had to pick one, I’d probably go with The Cure but, only my a small margin.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted one of these so this one should be quite fun to see what you think. Two very different bands with the same name song. In one corner you have the great and highly influential Failure. And in the other corner you have Sweden’s Blindside. The song is entitled “Pitiful” and each band’s song is quite different from the others. Which one do you think is the best?

Song Battle: Alice In Chains vs The Stooges- Dirt

Two very different bands and both have a song entitled Dirt. This is going to be one of the most interesting same name song battles I’ve posted. I love both bands. Alice In Chains a bit more obviously but, there is no denying the impact The Stooges had on inspiring countless amounts of bands over the years, Alice In Chains included. The Stooges song dirt is off their album Fun House which I must add is one of the coolest albums ever! Alice In Chains song “Dirt” is from their masterpiece of a 2nd album of the same name. Both songs are so different but due to my love of Alice, I’m going to have to pick theirs but, The Stooges song is friggin great too.

I really enjoy doing these song battles. Getting to hear what song you think is best is always intriguing to me. Today I have a rather interesting song battle for you all. Both Nine Inch Nails and Pantera have songs called “Heresy” and both are extremely different. Personally I know which song I’d choose (I pick Nine Inch Nails) but, both are very good. Which one do you favor?

I’m having a lot of fun doing these same name song battles. It’s been really cool to hear all the responses as to which song you all dig more. Yesterday, while I was stuck in traffic, 3 different songs entitled “Burn” came up on my iPod. Naturally, this was a sign that I should do a song battle for these great songs. I present to you three songs entitled “Burn” by The Cure, Neurosis, and Nine Inch Nails.

Which one do you think is best?
